Step 3:

Here is a simply checklist to ensure the private label process goes as smooth as possible for the both of us. It's important that you adhere to these guidelines precisely.

My Personal Email:

If you need to contact me, my personal email address is derekonline@gmail.com (please keep this to yourself).

URLs and Such:

Place the following information in a simple text file (.txt), in the order shown (bullet points and formatting are not necessary):

  • Product name: [the name of your private label version]
  • Copyright info: [who you want to identify as the owner of the application - this can be a personal or company name]
  • Support/Help page URL: [this is the page that is opened when the user accesses Help from within the application - this URL can be the link to a forum, a page containing the user guide, or even just the product homepage]

Here's an example of the contents of a sample text file:

Product name: The Goal Machine
Copyright info: Action Inc.
Support/Help page URL: http://www.thegoalmachine.com/help.htm

Save the file, naming it main.txt.

Custom Action List Content (Optional):

Each copy of the The Action Machine comes with a default action list that appears on the left side of the interface:

As part of your custom branding, you have the option of sending me a list of your own actions that you would like to appear here, in place of those that appear by default.

This could be valuable if you have a system of steps or a checklist that you would like to make available here.

Creating a custom action list is simple.

Start a new, simple text file (in Windows Notepad), and enter your actions and notes in the following manner:

item({label:"name of action", data:"action notes"});

Here's a simple example list to demonstrate what the contents of this text file might look like:

item({label:"Find a Domain", data:"Do a search for a domain name"});
item({label:"Set up Hosting ", data:"Find a reliable Web host"});
item({label:"Upload your Site ", data:"Upload all the files"});
item({label:"Get Traffic", data:"Drive traffic to your new site"});

For any action you choose not to include an accompanying note, just enter it this way:

item({label:"name of action ", data:""});

Notice the data: portion of the line contains no text, only empty quotation marks.

Be sure to place each action/note on a separate line.

Save the file, naming it custom_actionlist.txt

NOTE: If you don't send me a custom action list text file as part of your customization files, I'll assume you choose to use the default list.

End-User License Agreement Text:

When your private label application is installed (on Windows), a dialog box will appear, asking the user to accept the end-user license agreement. I'm sure you've seen this process in action before with software you've installed (see graphic for example).

While you may wish to consult with your attorney about the wording for this, it is a standard agreement, with templates available online.

Here is a link to a site that sells a template that will allow you to generate the text for this agreement for $10.00 (a real bargain).

Once you have created this document, and formatted it the way you want, you need to provide this to me in .doc format (Microsoft Word).

Save the file, naming it install_agreement.doc.

Graphics:

I need 3 simple graphics from you. These graphics can be in any of the following image file formats:

  • .jpg
  • .gif (no animated GIFs allowed)
  • .png

The 1st graphic is the application splash screen graphic. This graphic appears when the application first loads. Its dimensions need to be 400 pixels wide x 240 pixels tall.

Save the file, naming it splash.jpg (or whatever file format you choose):

NOTE: This graphic is also used as the main graphic in the branded user's guide.

The 2nd graphic is the application background image. This image appears below all the other elements on the interface. Its dimensions need to be 1024 pixels wide x 700 pixels tall.

NOTE: For best results, make sure your main branding content (including your URL) appear somewhere on the far right of the graphic you submit, as shown here:

The 3rd graphic is the install dialog box graphic. This graphic appears in the dialog that pops up when the user begins the install process. It's dimensions need to be 164 pixels wide x 314 pixels tall.

Save the file, naming it install.jpg (or whatever file format you choose).

Sending Me Your Files:

Send the following items (discussed in detail above) to me at derekonline@gmail.com with the subject: Private Label elements:

  • main.txt
  • custom_actionlist.txt (optional)
  • install_agreement.doc
  • splash.jpg
  • install.jpg
  • background.jpg

Here are a couple important reminders:

  • Please, do not zip the files. My virus blocker doesn't like zipped files coming to my email address, and they typically get destroyed.
  • Please, only send this email when you are able to provide all customization elements together. I will only accept emails where all elements are together.

You will have a full 6 months from the time of purchase to provide all elements of the customization.

Be sure the customizations you submit are exactly as you want them. I will allow you to change your mind on these specifications only once, unless you have accepted the customization work as final and complete (see below), in which case, customization will be considered final and complete.

After 6 months, if I am unable to complete your private label version due to not having received all customization elements from you or as the result of any other lack of response from you, you will simply receive a version branded with everything you have provided up to that point, or if nothing has been provided, a 'neutral' version of the software and user's guide with a simple 'Productivity Tool' branding.

Completing the Private Label Process/Receiving Your Product:

Give me 7 - 14 business days to complete and provide you your private label version of The Action Machine. This is the typical turn-around time unless I am out of town or on vacation, at which point your will receive your Private Label version within 7 - 14 business days after I return.

Once I have completed customizations based on the specifications you provide, I will provide you (via email or a download):

  • An installer file (which is the file you can distribute to your clients/customers). This is an .exe file and/or a Mac .app file.
  • A branded version of user's guide - both in .pdf and .doc (Microsoft Word) format.
  • A editable version of Action Unleashed! ebook - provided as a Word .doc file.

You will be asked to review all elements to ensure they meet your requirements and specifications. If they do, you will need to send a simple email in acknowledgement of your acceptance of all elements as complete and final.

For your protection, I strongly suggest you burn your private label version, and the user's guide, to a CD and keep it in a safe place.

While I usually maintain/backup files I have (including your private label files), I do not promise to keep them forever. If you need them again (due to a hard drive crash or similar) and I have them still, I'll gladly provide them to you again, but do not rely on me as a backup for your files. It is your responsibility to protect and maintain them.

Add yourself to The Action Machine private label notification list:

Adding your name to this list will allow me to share any important information with you about The Action Machine if the need arises.

That's it!

I look forward to completing and delivering your private label version of The Action Machine.

Best Of Success!
